Police Searching for Missing Couple

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - No one has heard or seen John and Elizabeth Calvert for the past two days.

John Calvert is the owner of the marina operations at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. His wife Elizabeth is an attorney at a Savannah law firm. Friends say they would never just leave without any explanation.

Nancy Cappelmane has known the Calverts for the past five years. She works with John at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and said something just isn't right. "I've never known them to be out of contact at any point in time," she said. "They're always on their phones, they're always responsive, and they always answer their emails."

However, since Monday night, they haven't. The last time anyone saw the Calverts was Monday evening. They had attended a meeting on the Sea Pines Plantation property, a gated community of which Harbour Town is a part. The Calverts also live at Harbour Town on their yacht.

Their friends say where the meeting took place, and the place where their yacht is docked is not far away. They can't imagine what could have happened.

They do know the Calverts were happy, enjoyed their work and had no reason to leave. "They would not do that without calling someone," said Cappelmane.

Elizabeth Calverts brother David White agrees. He lives in Atlanta but reported his sister and her husband missing after receiving calls that they hadn't shown up for work.

White says there is no way his sister just up and left.

The Calverts could possibly be traveling in a 2006 Mercedes E320 with a Georgia tag GT821B

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at 843.842.4111.
