Candlelight Vigil Planned in South Carolina for Missing Couple

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - A prayer vigil is planned for the Hilton Head Island couple, missing for a week now (see Couple's Disappearance "Highly Uncharacteristic" Say Friends).

No one has seen John or Liz Calvert since last Monday night in Harbour Town, where they live part of the year on their yacht.

Earlier today, Harbour Town was pretty quiet. No signs of any new searches. Beaufort County investigators aren't releasing any new details, but are still working on leads. They're keeping pretty tight lipped because it's an on-going investigation.

John is the operation's owner of the Harbour Town Marina. Liz is an attorney at Hunter McLean in Savannah. Colleagues at her law firm say they're hoping for the couple's safe return.

"It's a very somber place. We're all concerned about what has happened to Liz. She was a very vivacious individual, an important part of our team," said Hunter MacLean colleague John Tatum. "We all miss her. She was fun to be with."

The couple's Mercedes was found Friday in a parking lot at Palmetto Dunes (see Deputies Find Missing Car, No Sign of Missing Couple) but investigators say they didn't find anything in or around the vehicle to shed any new light on their disappearance.

On Saturday, divers searched the marina, looking for evidence but so far haven't found anything.

Friends of the Calverts on Hilton Head Island are organizing a Prayer Vigil Tuesday night at the Liberty Oak Tree in Harbour Town beginning at 7:30pm.

If you have any information about their disappearance, call the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at 843.842.4111 or your local police.
