SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - It's been more than a month since the deadly explosion at the sugar refinery and today, first responders are taking a look back at that night.

All of the different public safety agencies met at the Westin Savannah Harbor to discuss the response to the deadly explosion at the refinery back in February. They spent the day analyzing how the events were handled and what they could carry with them for any future events of that magnitude.

"I had a very good command staff. Chiefs from all the other departments came around and were willing to do whatever it took," said Port Wentworth Fire chief Greg Long.  "If I need a high ranking officer to grab a hose line they did it. There were no egos or different shoulder patches. We all came together as one entity in order to accomplish the mission."

Chief Long says they are collectively working on better contingency plans to be able to step in when another department needs it.
