Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament Volunteers Gear Up

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament is just over a month away and tournament volunteers are gearing up.

Today they picked up their uniforms and identification for the big tournament. Every year, 1,200 volunteers donate their time for jobs like transporting golfers and dozens of other things at the tournament.

While it's a lot of work, it's something they enjoy. "I think it's worthwhile," said long-time volunteer Ann Alford. "Besides that it's fun seeing the people coming in and being a part of it."

"It's a big event to pull off and their work and support is critical to the success of the program," said Becky Carr with Verizon Business.

The Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament will be April 14 through April 20.
