RINCON, GA (WTOC) - It's class as usual for fourth grader Morgan Seckinger. But while she and her classmates are learning poetry, they're also getting a lesson in compassion.

Morgan's dad Paul, was burned over 80 percent of his body in the Imperial Sugar explosion. Right now, he's at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta. She's only seen him once, but misses him a lot. "I told him that I loved him and that I want to go fishing. And I can't wait for him to get home so we can watch Sponge Bob together," Morgan smiled.

And with the help of her teacher Stacie Ortiz and her classmates, Morgan's wish may just come true. Although it's called Morgan's Dixie Wish, the whole class will go out into the community to sell the Dixie Crystal Logo charms and T-shirts. The group hopes to raise over $5,000 for the patients and families at the burn center in Augusta.

Morgan loves the Dixie Crystal charms. "I was really surprised and really excited. They're so cute," she said.

The charms were specially made for Morgan to sell to the community. Word of the fundraiser has already spread ."In the last three weeks, I've probably gotten 200 emails from people that don't even know me, and don't know any of the families," said Ortiz. "But they said they worked at Dixie Crystals and have heard about this and wanted to see if they could help out and give towards the fundraiser. It's been overwhelming."

Overwhelming in a good way. The class is ready to pitch in and help, which makes Morgan very proud. "It means a lot to me, and probably means a lot to the other families," said Morgan. "I am hoping that a bunch of people will want to buy them, and that we can raise a bunch of money."

A Dixie Wish straight from Morgan's heart.

If you're interested in buying a Dixie Crystal charm or a T-shirt, both will be on sale Saturday, April 19 at the Citizen's Bank in Port Wentworth, Rincon or Springfield. The cost of the charms is $5 each.
