PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - Another big blood drive is going on for victims of the February 7 explosion at the Imperial Sugar refinery in Port Wentworth.

Things were steady most of the day at the Port Wentworth Gym for the Shepeard Blood Drive. The Shepeard Community Blood Center is the only supplier of blood and blood products to the Doctor's Hospital and the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, where the worst-injured in the blast were taken.

Close to a hundred people stopped by and donated blood today to be given to hospitals the blood center supports. There's also a possibility that refinery burn victims in need could get today's donated blood.

One donor says he was glad to give his time for the cause. "If all of us stick together and give blood together, we can help each other," said Ricky Chester.

The blood drive on April 29 is from 1pm to 8pm and April 30 from 7am to 2pm at the Port Wentworth Gym, 101 Turnberry Street.

Donors will receive complimentary meals and blood donor T-shirts.
