Man Shot on Savannah's Westside

Savannah police are investigating an attempted armed robbery of a westside package shop that ended in gunfire and one man dead. Just after 9pm Tuesday evening, officers were called to 2501 West Bay Street on the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found a young adult black male laying just outside of the business who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are investigating the incident as an attempted armed robbery. The clerk was not injured in the shooting. Detectives have determined that the incident did occur inside the Joe's Package Shop. Investigators are looking for a possible second suspect in the robbery, described as a black male wearing a yellow shirt. While detectives have spoken with a number of people at the scene, no arrests have been made. Detectives are working to identify the shooting victim. His body will be sent to theGBI crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy.
