Twenty-year-old Shameen Coker of Yemassee is on trial for murder, armed robbery, and kidnapping in connection with the death of 32-year-old James Dillard in May of 2000.
During Coker's trial today in Beaufort, things took a turn for the worse.
Dillard's aunt collapsed after hearing testimony about his death, and had to be taken away on a stretcher.
"Her son saw her shaking on the floor, he got excited," witness Joanne Fields told us. "Looked towards the defendant and began screaming…me and some police officers tried to calm him down."
The judge sentenced Dillard's cousin, Steven Williams to 30 days in jail for contempt of court. Testimony in the trial will resume tomorrow morning.
