SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - You've been hearing about it for months and now we are a little more than two months away from the Big Switch, set for February 17, 2009. That's when WTOC and all other commercial TV stations around the country will no longer broadcast their signals in analog and switch over to digital.
If you have cable and satellite TV, you're all set for the Big Switch but if you have an "old-style" analog TV with an antenna, you'll need a converter box in order to see your programs after February 17.
Still not sure if you are ready? We're going to help you find out.
This Wednesday at 7:30pm on WTOC for just two minutes at the start of "Everybody Loves Raymond" we'll have information you need to test your readiness for the Big Switch.
During that two minutes, you will see information on the screen letting you know whether you are ready and what to do if you're not.
So we encourage you to join us at 7:30pm on Wednesday, December 17 for this DTV readiness test. We will have people standing by to answer any questions you might have.
We at WTOC are making this readiness effort to be certain that all antenna-only TV households in our viewing area are ready for the nation-wide Big Switch to digital coming up in February.
