SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - As tough as the economy is, there's some good news coming to the Savannah port.
Maersk, the shipping giant, is changing their current south Atlantic services adding Savannah to their routes.
It's good news for their customers and for the community, adding 52 ship visits a year.
"One vessel call a week that adds jobs to the local economy," said Maersk Line senior vice president of USA operations Gordon Dorsey. "More work for warehouses, more work for businesses. Over all, in the bottom line it adds more jobs to the economy."
