Weather Summary

Today's Forecast

Today's Forecast Image
  • 87°
  • 73°

Moderate to heavy rain fell over the eastern portion of Chatham County this morning into the afternoon as well as coastal areas of Beaufort County.  A water spout was even sighted off the coast of Tybee with the passage of the storms.  1-2 inches of rain fell in portion of those rain areas.  Another band of showers and thunderstorms was developing during the afternoon and was a bit further inland than the earlier system with that trend expected to continue for the remainder of the day.  Another bundle of energy was approaching from the lower Mississippi Valley which will promise to keep us wet over the weekend into early next week with moderate to high chances for showers and thunderstorms.

In the tropics, newly formed tropical storm Bertha with 50 mph winds was over the Windward Islands.  This storm is expected to curve to the NW then N and will remain well east of the US east coast.
