STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - The off week is usually welcomed in college football, but sometimes it can come at the wrong time when a team has some momentum going.
Georgia Southern is coming off a 38-7 loss at Clemson. While the team is now 2-1 and getting ready for Sun Belt Conference play, Head Coach Chad Lunsford believes the off week came at the right time for the team.
“I think this is a good advantage for us, this time around, sometimes I can see it both ways, but I think this is really good for us. One: we've played three straight games, we've come out of that three games at two and one, and you know it's time to heal up a little bit. Our guys have played really hard and have some bumps and bruises and things like that, so I think this is a good week to get better, it's also a good week to go back to our fundamentals and make sure we're working on those things so we don't get sloppy the rest of the way out,” Lunsford said.
The Eagles are back in Paulson Stadium next Saturday for the conference opener against Arkansas State with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
