SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -Woodville Thompkins High School celebrated International Day of Peace on Friday, a worldwide appeal for peace, acceptance and diversity.

The program was panned by Woodville’s International Students of Excellence, a club that includes kids from a vaiety of ethnicities and cultures. It included a moment of silence and a call for togetherness at school, in the community and around the world.

“We want everyone to be able to feel free as they do in school,” said Prya Patel, the President of the International Students of Excellence. “We don’t want to exclude anyone, we want to allow everyone in, allow everyone to be unique and represent their own cultures or heritage.”

“What it really does represnt is good students being totally engaged in their community and engaged in current events and understanding the important of having a voice and student expression, which is so critical for all of our schools,” said Kurt Hetager with Savannah Chatham County schools.

Students also had the opportunity to use a photo booth and share their message of Peace in their social networks using - #PeaceDay
