SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - One lane of westbound I-16 has reopened after a semi caught fire Tuesday morning.
A Savannah Police Department officer on the scene says the fire broke out at about 8:30 a.m. The driver of the semi smelled smoke in the cab of the truck. He immediately pulled over and was able to exit the vehicle without injuries.
Savannah Fire, Pooler Fire, Savannah PD & Chatham County EMS all responded to the scene. It took emergency crews just a few minutes to extinguish the fire.
