SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Tuesday night, the public was invited to review plans for a new park on Savannah’s Southside.
The city plans on turning the lake near Mohawk Street into a new development that includes a walking trail, playground, fishing pier, dog park, and more.
The community was given the chance to review and comment on the design.
“I think the community is just really happy to see the project moving forward. Now that there is SPLOST funding available to fund the project, it’s going to be a really exciting, large project for not only the community but the city of Savannah,” said Cristy Lawrence, Director of Capital Projects Management. “So, we’re hoping that the community would be as excited as we are.”
Construction is set to begin this summer. The city is expecting to keep the park open for most of that time.
