LONG COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - Long County deputies arrested an armed man after a 4-hour standoff Saturday.
Long County deputies arrived at a home on Garden Drive in the Sandhills community just before 5 a.m. Saturday for a domestic dispute. When deputies arrived, they found 32-year-old Jose Martinez Gutierrez barricaded inside a home and armed with a rifle.
Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles said Gutierrez was hostile and threatened to shoot deputies, but no shots were ever fired. Long County Sheriff’s Detective Tom Sollosi said Gutierrez’s rifle was reported stolen from Tattnall County.
Authorities eventually convinced Gutierrez to come out of the house, and they arrested him around 9 a.m.
Gutierrez is charged with making terroristic threats and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Gutierrez is currently being held in the Tattnall County Jail.
