BULLOCH COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - Bulloch County will soon have a new place for people to enjoy rodeos, concerts, and more.
Construction of the long-anticipated County Ag Arena got slowed by flooding rains and design delays.
Crews may have thought they’d need a submarine to finish with the weather of the last year or more. Now, they hope to have it open soon to draw people from the area and out of town alike.
The parking lot will take shape in the next few days with paving. They’re grading the front to get it ready for landscaping. Inside the arena, bleachers will go up within weeks. Complex manager Billy Springer says they’ll be able to host a wide range of events beyond rodeos and livestock shows.
“I’ve been contacted about a Renaissance fair, big rig truck shows, obviously concerts,” Springer said. “We could host equipment shows for some of our tractor dealers.”
The adjacent barn has space for more than 200 animals at a time. Those posts are some of the hookups for the 54 RV spots to help them accommodate what they hope are big crowds coming in and liking the arena enough to keep coming back.
They hope to host their first big event in May.
