EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA (WTOC) - La’Shunda Posey has been teaching for 15 years, but this is her first year as a 1st Grade teacher.
Posey loves her first graders at Rincon Elementary School, and her students love her.
“What do you think about when you look at these little faces? I love them. I love them so much,” Posey said. “They think that they are just little ones coming here every day, so I love them very much.”
Posey says building that loving relationship is the most important thing a teacher can do.
“Once a child trusts you, then they will work even better at doing their best every day," Posey said.
Every day, Posey tries to plant the seeds to help her children grow.
“Just doing different things to make sure they know, this is a safe environment, a learning environment. That’s what we are here to do and that is what your teacher is going to make sure happens throughout the year.”
Posey says she wants to help inspire her children and make learning fun, but they also inspire her.
“They uplift me in more ways than one, whether it’s a hug or ‘Good Morning, Ms. Posey,’ or smile when I say Good Morning to them, or they tell me, 'Ms. Posey, I missed you over the weekend. Just them being exciting about being in 1st Grade."
