HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying four suspects involved in multiple early morning burglaries on Hilton Head Island.
The incidents occurred Wednesday morning in the Indigo Run area of Hilton Head. Investigators say three cars were taken. Investigators say all three cars still had the keys inside.
The suspects went on their burglary spree early that morning in the area of Avalon Villas. It’s a gated community, but that didn’t stop the burglars from walking right around the gate.
“The vehicles were unlocked inside of the garage, which is not unusual but again, we recommend that people lock their cars and take the opportunity away from a would-be thief.”
Sheriff’s Office officials say one of the subjects was captured by video surveillance.
“More than likely, they are from outside of Beaufort County based on the fact that the Dodge Durango went into Jasper County.”
One resident, who called police, says she saw two of the stolen cars pull up to her home. A few minutes later, she saw three cars leaving. One of those cars was hers.
“The Dodge Durango went on a short pursuit with the Bluffton Police Department Wednesday morning, and they terminated the pursuit for safety concerns, and the vehicle went into Jasper County.”
Police were able to find the Honda Accord after a short chase. The Durango and a Mercedes Benz have yet to be found.
Investigators are still searching for these suspects, and they also want to remind you to lock your cars.
Anyone knowing the identity of the male subject and his accomplices is encouraged to call Staff Sergeant Calendine at 843-255-3427 or Crimestoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111 if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward.
The following is video surveillance from the burglaries, provided by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
