SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Two of Savannah’s biggest stars added some hardware to their trophy cases this weekend.
Benedictine’s Jakeen Harris was named the Savannah Quarterback Club’s Offensive Player of the Year while Savannah Christian’s Nate Moon is the Club’s Defensive Player of the Year.
For Harris, it’s just another prestigious award after a stellar senior campaign in 2018. He earned the Michael Finocchiaro Award earlier this season, given to Chatham County’s best high school football player.
The NC State signee rushed for 461 yards and 14 touchdowns this season and added 198 yards receiving with a pair of touchdowns.
Moon helped guide the Raiders to a surprising 2018 season, leading the SCPS defense with 158 total tackles and 19 tackles for loss, The junior defensive back added two sacks, two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries.
The Raiders were named the Team of the Year after a season that resulted in the program’s first region title since 2011 and a state semifinal berth in Baker Woodward’s first season at the helm.
