SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - One man was taken to the hospital in Savannah after he was hit by a vehicle Monday night.
It happened around 8:20 p.m. on Abercorn Street near Largo Drive. Police say a 22-year-old female was traveling in a Ford Raptor west in the center lane of Abercorn Street. As she approached the area of Idlewood Drive, a pedestrian, later identified as man from Alpharetta, tried to cross the road in front of the woman’s vehicle. The female driver could not avoid the pedestrian and struck him.
The westbound lane of Abercorn Street was closed from Deerfield Road to Largo Drive during the investigation, but has since reopened to traffic.
Savannah Police say the 44-year-old male victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The incident remains under investigation by Savannah Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit.
