SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -The only thing better than going downtown to some of our historic homes and museums is doing it all for free.
More than 40 different historic sites open their doors today for Super Museum Sunday.
This gives locals and visitors the chance to experience the history in our own backyard. The event is part of the annual Georgia History Festival.
“A lot of times maybe people don’t have the funds to come out throughout the year," explained Holly Elliott, the Marketing and Public Relations Director for the Coastal Heritage Society. "So it’s really nice for us to be able to offer this experience for people who don’t have the money to come to a museum typically and they get to have this wonderful experience here with their family and make memories.”
Over 100 sites throughout the state participated in Super Museum Sunday.
