Unofficial results for the special election for HHI Ward 6 council seat

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) - The unofficial results are in for the special election on Hilton Head Island.

The Board of Elections has counted 9 out of 10 precincts voting for a new town council representative for Ward 6.

Glenn Stanford has a strong lead, with more than 50 percent of the vote.

Here are the unofficial vote totals right now:

  • Glenn Standford: 427
  • Jim Collett: 246
  • Cathy McClellan: 98
  • Kent Loper Berry: 39

The board will meet Thursday morning to certify these results.

Whoever wins will replace John McCann on the town council, since McCann is now the city’s mayor.
