BRYAN COUNTY, GA (WTOC) -Richmond Hill and South Bryan County are mourning the loss of a community trailblazer.
Prominent businessman and former County Commission Chairman Carlton Gill passed away on Monday.
The City of Richmond Hill posted this tribute on its Facebookpage, saying Gill left a lasting impression on the city and county.
"I have a profound respect for Mr. Carlton, not only for all he did for Bryan County and Richmond Hill but for the ethical and Christian example he set," Richmond Hill Mayor Russ Carpenter said.
“Gill’s passing is a great loss for our community. I got his advice at times because I valued his opinion. There are a lot of good things in this community that were put in place because of his vision,” Bryan County Commission Chairman Carter Infinger said.
A portion of I-95 in Bryan County was dedicated to Gill back in 1998.
He also served in church leadership as a deacon and elder at Compassion Christian Church and was a member of other civic organizations and leadership boards.
