SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Improving literacy, enhancing bike safety, and sponsoring summer camps are just a few of the activities the Downtown Neighborhood Association will support with this year’s Community Partner Grant Program.
Over a dozen community groups in Savannah were awarded grants to help fund their efforts in making the city a better place. Each year, groups apply for these grants from the Downtown Neighborhood Association.
“It really demonstrates the commitment, not only to their own neighborhood, but to the community as a whole,” said Caila Brown, Executive Director of Bike Walk Savannah.
The funds for the grants are raised each year through the Downtown Neighborhood Association’s Holiday Tour of Homes. The event raised $45,000. More than two-thirds of the money is put into the grants.
