Hinesville business owner speaks out after suspect arrested for arson

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - The owner of Jungle Jake’s in Hinesville says they are planning to rebuild after police arrested a suspect and charged him with arson.

Owners say it’s heartbreaking to know their store was targeted, but they appreciate all of the community support. They say it will take months to restore the business they’ve known and grown for years.

An early morning fire on the morning of March 27 destroyed their gaming and collectibles store. Hinesville Police arrested Brett Salisbury on charges of arson. He is also being charged for a burglary incident a few weeks later at Gamers Only in Hinesville.

Salisbury was denied bond on Monday.

Dhakine Lee says the family has been working nonstop to get the store back open in a smaller location for now.

“It was just a really big relief. We knew they were progressing with the case, and we knew that they were getting close, so to finally get that phone call and know that they had apprehended someone, and that he was going to be off the streets and not be able to do this to anyone else, was just a big relief," Lee said.

They also want to thank the Hinesville Police Department for working so quickly to get someone in custody.
