Memorial service held for 9 airmen killed in C-130 military plane crash

PORT WENTWORTH, GA (WTOC) - The city of Port Wentworth held a memorial service Thursday to mark the anniversary of a military plane crash that killed nine airmen from the Puerto Rico National Guard.

The service was held at the future home of the Port Wentworth City Hall on GA Highway 21 one year after the C-130 Hercules aircraft crashed nose-first onto a portion of GA Highway 21 in Port Wentworth on May 2, 2018.

The family members of those airmen arrived in the area earlier in the week, and over this past weekend, 28 relatives rode as Grand Marshals in Port Wentworth’s Stand Up for America Day Parade.
