Boy gets Amtryke from Savannah AMBUCS, Vaden Nissan

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah AMBUCS and Vaden Nissan teamed up to give one little boy a very special gift.

They presented an Amtryke to Mark Jefferies.

Amtrykes are given to Savannah residents who are differently-abled. Each one is custom built for the recipient’s needs based on medical recommendations and guidance by physicals therapists.

Mark’s mother is excited that he’ll be able to use the bike a little more easily.

“With this bike, he is able to get a bike made for him to fit his needs, and that’s exactly what they did,” April Jones said. “I’m very appreciative of that.”

“Nothing can prepare you for the joy you see when those kids get on those bikes for the first time,” said Mike McCain, General Manager, Vaden Nissan. “Some of them have never even been on a bike, and they get to do something that they watched other kids do.”

Vaden Nissan of Savannah has teamed up with Savannah AMBUCS for eight years. Events like the AMBUCS Celebrity Bowlapalooza help raise funds for the bikes every year.
