RICHMOND HILL, GA (WTOC) - A former Richmond Hill High School football player has signed a free agent deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald played in 45 games for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Fitzgerald finished his career as one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the history of the SEC. He holds four SEC records: career rushing yards by a quarterback, career 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback, single-season 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback and a single-season average yards per rush by a quarterback.
He tweeted his excitement on Saturday afternoon after the NFL Draft.
While Fitzgerald was not selected during the seven rounds, he was able to sign as an undrafted free agent and earn a spot at training camp.
