SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Chatham County leaders have cut the ribbon on the new Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex on Sallie Mood Drive.
The complex is actually an expansion to the existing fields. The expansion adds three new multipurpose fields with artificial turf that can be used for soccer, football, and lacrosse. It is named in honor of Jennifer Ross, who lost her life at a young age.
“Jennifer died, unfortunately on the streets of Savannah, but her name has lived on, and she loved soccer and her whole family does," said Rusty Ross, Jennifer’s father.
“The commission wanted to honor her in some way, so they decided to name this complex after her, so I think it’s a fitting tribute to her,” said Chairman Al Scott, Board of Commissioners, Chatham County.
SPLOST funds paid for the project.
