SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - This weekend, you can grab your friends and walk for a cause very near to us here at WTOC.
The forecast looks beautiful, and if you’re trying to figure out what to do, there’s a little something for everyone.
Start your day with Team WTOC at the 2019 Walk MS Savannah. This is a cause near and dear to our hearts. Our Don Logana raised thousands for the cause over the years, in honor of his sister. The walk begins at 10 a.m., Saturday in Daffin Park.
Also on Saturday, grab your kilt for the 43rd Annual Scottish Games. Celebrating Scottish heritage, this event has music, dancing, games, children’s activities, food and more. The gates open Saturday at 9 a.m. at Bethesda Academy.
Saturday afternoon, get your hats and seersucker ready and join WTOC’s Cyreia Sandlin at the top of the Perry Lane Hotel for the Kentucky Derby.
“Saturday is Kentucky Derby Day, and we love that! We are featuring our bourbon sour, our mint julep for all you classicists out there, and even out of our frozen drink machine, our Kentucky Kicker. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres provided by me and my staff at Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market. We have a super fun derby hat contest. You can just walk in off the street, come upstairs, and have a great time," said Chef Andrew.
After the Derby party, hurry over to the Johnny Mercer Theatre for the Savannah Philharmonic’s Season Finale. The Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra presents its Tenth Season Grand Finale Concert, “Mahler.” This will be conducted by music director candidate Joseph Young from the Peabody Conservatory.
Last but certainly not least, Sunday is for the dogs! The Humane Society Doggie Carnival is back in Forsyth park with fun for the whole family. Bring your pups out for the doggie derby, plenty of games, vendors, a dunk tank, food trucks and more. It will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
