JACKSON, GA (WALB) - A Georgia death row inmate was executed Thursday night in Jackson.

The state executed Scotty Garnell Morrow at 9:38 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Corrections (DOC).

Morrow was convicted of murder in 1999 in the fatal shootings of his ex-girlfriend, Barbara Ann Young, and her friend, Tonya Woods, at Young’s Gainesville home in December 1994.

Morrow requested a last meal of a hamburger with mayonnaise, two chicken and waffle meals, a pint of butter pecan ice cream, a bag of buttered popcorn, two all-beef franks, and a large lemonade.

Morrow accepted a final prayer and recorded a final statement, said DOC.

There have been 71 men and one woman executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976.

The DOC said Morrow was the 50th inmate put to death by lethal injection. There are currently 49 men under death sentence in Georgia.

Tiffany Moss was also sentenced to death this week for murder, cruelty to children and trying to conceal the death of 10-year-old Emani Moss by burning her body in a trash can.
