AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- James Brown might be immortalized in nearly every corner of Augusta and the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), but the Augusta Commission wants to make it official.

That's why, following a unanimous vote by the Commission on Tuesday, May 3 is now officially James Brown Day in Augusta.

The vote makes Brown's birthday more of a day to celebrate in the CSRA.

Brown was born on May 3, 1933 and changed music forever with his trademark style.
