SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The 43rd annual Savannah Scottish Games kick off Saturday morning.

People of all ages will gather at Bethesda to celebrate their Scottish heritage.

Thousands of people are expected to be at Bethesda Academy on Saturday, May 4, for these annual games. The celebration includes a Heavy Athletics Competition featuring the Caber Toss, Sheaf Toss, Scottish Hammer Throw, and more.

Organizers say this is a family friendly event with music, dancing, kids’ activities, and food. Participants are also invited to learn more about the Scottish culture and see if they have any Scottish roots at the genealogy tent

The games will begin at 9 a.m. with the closing ceremonies at 4:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $15 each, but kids get in for free. There are also special discounts for first responders, students, and military members.
