SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -A local non-profit organization held its own Savannah derby day on Saturday, Kentucky derby themed of course.
Heads up Guidance services, also known as HUGS, provides professional counseling despite someone's ability to pay
The organization has about 30 volunteer therapists that give back to the community
The organizations founder says that Saturday’s event is a time a time to watch the Kentucky derby, while coming together and celebrating a great cause.
“People coming out and supporting these events, we only have two annual events and it keeps our doors open, so that’s what we’re doing here today is to really celebrate the clients we serve, celebrate the counselors that serve through HUGS and just hope that the community will embrace us and come out and support a great cause,” said Andrea Epting, the founder and managing director of HUGS.
100% of the proceeds raised at Saturday’s event goes directly back into the counseling HUGS provides, as well as their other programs as well.
