Florists preparing for Mother's Day

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and many people are still preparing for the big day to make sure it’s extra special.

Many families are looking for the perfect bouquet. Some local businesses, such as Ramell’s Florist, says it’s one of their busiest times of the year.

Ramell Florist says their phones have been ringing off the hook since Wednesday. Manager Nanci Mims says it’s all hands on deck when it comes to preparing for the big Mother’s Day rush. For some of the floral designers, they say roses and tulips are usually the favorites.

“We have large orders of flowers that come in. Those orders start coming in early in the morning,” said Ramell’s florest designer, Tamela Westerfield. “We process flowers and then we go ahead and start making all of our vases, and we’re usually designing from 8 a.m. until about 9-10 at night. It’s a really long day, but it’s fun.”

While the flower demand may be extra high around this time, Ramell’s says they are willing to do anything to help moms feel special.
