Pooler couple expecting first child after wife’s fight against breast cancer

POOLER, GA (WTOC) - A family in Pooler is looking forward to finally celebrating Mother’s Day together this weekend.

It will be the latest victory for Kimberly Williams in her fight against breast cancer - one she has made hand-in-hand with the Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia affiliate.

It’s a time of snapshot moments for the growing Williams family.

“I’m very excited about it being my first Mother’s Day,” Williams said.

It’s the latest milestone for the couple that has shared a journey since Kimberly was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. They moved to Savannah shortly after surgery.

“I’m not going to lie to you, it was a little hard trying to accomplish this because even though she’s a cancer survivor, there are still complications there, but we are blessed to be growing our family now,” said Kimberly’s husband, Darrin Williams.

The Williams’ have also shared their fight with the Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia affiliate.

Darrin proposed to Kimberly at the Race For the Cure Savannah in 2016. They attended as a married couple in 2017, and as expectant parents this year.

“Next year’s race, it will be the three of us.”

The couple already has a pink outfit picked out for the little girl they are expecting to wear to the 2020 Komen Race, but they are planning a quieter celebration this weekend.

"I’m just going to make dinner for us. She’ll be working. Probably Monday, I’ll take her out, do something special, maybe read Camille a story that night for Mother’s Day.

The Williams’ are expecting their daughter in August.
