SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Hoops for a good cause- that was all day Saturday at Benedictine; their first time doing this event.
They hosted five basketball games to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Some local celebrities on-hand included former Harlem Globetrotters Larry “Gator” Rivers, Tyrone “Hollywood” Brown, and Bruce “Sugar Bear” Capers as well former Atlanta Hawk and current Hawks TV analyst Mike Glenn.
“I’m a former member of the Board of Directors of the NBA Retired Players and what we encourage all retired players- and current players- be a part of the community that supports you, that enables you to do what you’re doing and it’s important to give back, to give others an opportunity and you’re doing that empowers other people to things that they didn’t even know that they could do," Glenn said. "The success stories will begin to multiply as long as you put forth the effort and let your face and presence be seen and heard.”
They raised $5,255.
