MILLEDGEVILL, GA (WTOC) -A man has been charged with murder in the death of a University of Georgia professor.
Baldwin County deputies say 43-year-old Marianne Shockley was found dead near a hot tub at a home in Milledgeville early on Sunday morning.
Authorities are saying she was strangled to death.
Her boyfriend, Marcus Lillard, and the homeowner were performing CPR when deputies first got there.
While they were talking to Lillard, they say the homeowner went into another room and shot and killed himself.
They say Lillard’s story didn’t add up. He is being charged with murder, attempting to cover up a murder, and aggravated assault.
Shockley was a professor of entomology at UGA.
