SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) -30 members of Savannah State University's staff will be out of work within the next two months.

In a letter from the president Dr. Cheryl Dozier, 30 staff members were notified their employment will end on July 15th.

The letter says the staff reductions are because of a budget shortfall that amounts to $3.5 million.

Dozier says to address the budget, they evaluated the entire university, implemented a strategic hiring process, didn’t hire for vacancies, and applied a four percent budget reduction across all units of the university.
