HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - Over a dozen players that you’ll likely see playing on Sundays in the coming years, spent this Sunday coaching football to local kids.

In it’s seventh year at Hilton Head Island High School, the All-American Football Camp had a star-studded staff on hand coaching kids K through 8th grade.

“I was in their same spot six, seven years ago, going to camps," explained Georgia safety Richard LeCounte.

“Just telling them believe in their dreams whatever it is," added Louisville wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick. "If you want to be a dentist, if you want to be, you know, anything.”

Over 200 kids got to do position drills, get autographs and talk to some of the top players in the country.

“It makes me want to like, learn more from them to play at the next level and see what I can do on and off the field," said Jayden Sutton- a Coastal Middle School 6th grader.

“I just like doing it. Its fun," added eight-year-old Kate Ruwadi.

In that field of hundreds of football players- a hand-full of little girls who love football just as much as the boys do.

“She came home from school with a flyer about the camp and her first question was, ‘Can girls do this,'" Larry Alletto said of his daughter.

Fitzpatrick was impressed by the girls at the camp.

“The wide receivers had competing drills and the girls were kicking butt sometimes. I would give them high-fives and they would do the touchdown dance and I would be rooting with them, so that’s awesome.”

For the athletes, it was a chance to spend time with players from around the country and explore the island in their downtime.

“They get to talk about their schedules. What’s your class schedule? What’s your workout schedule? You know, what’s your practice schedule? So it’s really a unique experience for them to be able to hang around guys from other schools- they see a totally different view," said Hilton Head Island High School Head Football Coach BJ Payne.

The camp ran Friday through Sunday and is run by Payne.

It was also a chance for the players, in true competitor form, to talk some smack to the reigning College Football Playoff champions- the Clemson Tigers who had 7 players on hand.

“You know, having fun out here with guys like Tee Higgins, Trevor Lawrence, you know, just telling them we’re going to see them soon so," said LeCounte.

Fitzpatrick agreed while laughing.

“A little smack, a little smack. I told them we’re going to be coming after them this year. You know, we have a bad taste in our mouth the last couple of years with Clemson, but I think this year we’re going to get them.”
