HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia Power customers have power after a truck crashed into utility poles Hinesville.

It happened around 9:30 when a truck smashed into two utility poles at the corner of Gause and Rolland Streets, right at the entrance to Bradwell Institute.

The crash pulled down power lines that feed the rest of the city, taking away power to much of Hinesville through the day. It left businesses without power as crews worked to extract and replace the entire pole.

“I didn’t see it right away,” said Gina Standridge, a business owner. “But when I saw that they had to replace to pole, it’s a 40 foot pole and they have to bury six feet of it in the ground...it’s gonna take a while to do that.”

More than 1,000 customers were without power.
