STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - In their first season at the professional level, Tormenta FC has it going.

The Statesboro-based club sits second in the USL League One currently, but can make a big move toward the top spot over the next few weeks.

Tormenta hit the practice field early this morning at Erk Russell Athletic Park. That’s a place they’ll be very familiar with for a while.

The team welcomes their next four opponents to Statesboro, including the Chattanooga Red Wolves tomorrow night. Chattanooga is the only team with a win over Tormenta this season, so there’s extra motivation there.

But the Statesboro boys know just the opportunity they have now in front of them.

“We definitely want to take advantage at home because you never want to drop points here. Obviously, we want to win every game," says Tormenta FC defender Daltyn Knutson. "We’ll take it game by game and focus on each opponent week by week.”

“We spent so much of the first part of the season on the road that we really have to take care of our home games," says Tormenta manager John Miglarese. "I think the guys have bought into that. I think we have something to prove on Saturday night. I think we’ll make that right and win at home.”

Tormenta kicks off that four game home stand Saturday night against Chattanooga. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at Erk Russell Park.
