POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - Pooler Mayor Mike Lamb has announced he will not run for re-election.
The mayor made the announcement Friday and voiced his support for all the incumbents.
Lamb has been the mayor of Pooler since 2004.
"I started talking about it a little after my last election. I committed for four years, and when I commit to something, I commit for the entire time. I am committed until the end of December to do everything I can for the City of Pooler,” Lamb said.
We asked Lamb what he felt he was leaving behind as his legacy.
“Well, I think working with the citizens with the new businesses coming and creating a great staff. I can’t speak too much about this staff. This council has been tremendous," Lamb said.
Rebecca Benton, the current Pooler mayor pro tem, announced Friday she will run for mayor. Benton is the first woman to qualify to run for mayor in Pooler.
