SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened early Friday morning that resulted in serious injuries to the driver.
According to the Savannah Police Department, a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Highway 17 at a high rate of speed. Just prior to entering the Talmadge Bridge, the vehicle crossed the center line and struck the end cap of the median wall, resulting in the vehicle spinning and coming to a rest against the guard rail on the right side of the southside lanes.
All lanes on the Talmadge Bridge were shut down for almost three hours.
The 27-year-old male driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by SPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit.
