SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Former Johnson Atom Smasher star Amanze Ngumezi has put his name in the NCAA transfer portal, his former high school coach Utaff Gordon tells WTOC.

Gordon confirmed what was first reported by Rivals’ Dan McDonald.

Before UGA’s game with NC Central on December 4, head coach Tom Crean announced Ngumezi was indefinitely suspended for issues that “fall under the umbrella of attitude.” Until then, the former Atom Smasher started the Dawgs’ first seven games of the year.

Despite his former player’s transfer portal status, Gordon says it’s not a done deal that Ngumezi is leaving Georgia.

“This does not necessarily mean he will transfer,” Gordon told WTOC over the phone before Johnson’s win over Brunswick Thursday night. “I don’t want anyone to be presumptive.”

According to reporters, Crean indicated he didn’t anticipate Ngumezi back with the program anytime soon.

The Dawgs are back in action Friday night, hosting SMU.
