BEAUFORT, S.C. (WTOC) - Flu cases in South Carolina are high and widespread right now, which are forcing some hospitals to take precautions to keep others healthy.
Guidelines currently posted around Beaufort Memorial Hospital say those under 18 cannot visit. It also restricts anyone who feels sick.
Hospital officials say the restrictions are all about limiting the exposure as we get closer to peak flu season.
“The key is we don’t want people who are sick to be around people who are not sick yet and may not have been immunized, and so we want to just try to isolate those two populations the best that we can,” said Dr. Kurt Gambla, Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Doctors say if you suspect you have the flu, you should call your doctor before going to the hospital.
