SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Lucky’s Market in Savannah is closing.
A post was made on the store’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon confirming the closure.
Several media reports, including a report from the South Florida Sun Sentinel, stated that the chain would close the majority of its stores in Florida and possibly locations in several other states.
The Savannah location is the only Lucky’s Market in Georgia according to the company’s website.
Shoppers wanted to show support for the store on Wednesday, and also take advantage of the significant markdowns on a lot of goods.
One loyal Lucky's shopper shared his initial reaction to the news that one of his favorite stores is closing.
"Shocked. Couldn't believe it. Because again, this is one of the few stores that I can come to outside Kroger or Publix that I can find mostly anything that I'm looking for. Great products, great prices...you're not going to be able to find that at most stores. And again, it has the feel of a local, home-neighborhood store,” shopper Marcus Jenkins said.
The store’s director said, tentatively, they plan on their last day being on Feb. 12. Unless they sell all the inventory sooner.
