WALTHOURVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia State Patrol confirms one person is dead and another is injured after a head-on crash on E B Cooper Highway in Walthourville Sunday night.

According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Lyle Thurmond, a 2007 Chevy Impala driven by 37-year-old Rondrick Dixon, of Liberty County, was traveling westbound on E B Cooper Highway towards Walthourville when he veered into the eastbound lane colliding with a 1999 Chevy Silverado pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Robert Stauffer, who was headed towards Riceboro.

GSP says the impact split the Impala into two pieces. Dixon, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

Stauffer was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with severe injuries.
