SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old Savannah man.
The police department says on Monday around 7 p.m., officers responded to Coffee Bluff Road at Old Coffee Bluff Road and discovered a Toyota Camry had crashed into a utility pole.
According to SPD’s preliminary investigation, Delaion Woodbury was found to have been traveling north on Coffee Bluff Road at a high rate of speed when he entered a curve and went off the road. Police say Woodbury overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a utility pole.
Woodbury died from his injuries.
Due to damages to the utility pole and required repairs, the roadway remained closed to traffic until around 3 a.m. Tuesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
